Scientific Submission Guidelines – ADDICON 2025

We are delighted to invite submissions for the scientific programme of ADDICON 2025, our Annual National Conference. This platform is designed to showcase outstanding research, foster exchange of ideas, and highlight the meaningful work being done in addiction psychiatry and allied fields.

We welcome contributions in the form of oral presentations, posters, e-posters, symposia, and special award categories. Submitting your work is an excellent opportunity to share your findings with peers, engage in constructive feedback, and advance professional dialogue in this important area of mental health.

We encourage all prospective presenters to carefully read these guidelines before preparing and submitting their abstracts.

Key Dates to Remember

Abstract submission opens: 15 August 2025
Submission deadline: 30 September 2025
Notification of acceptance/rejection: 5 October 2025
Deadline for presenter registration: 30 September 2025

We strongly encourage early submission to avoid last-minute issues.

Please note: at least one presenting author must register for the conference by the deadline to confirm their slot.

What Can You Submit?

We are accepting submissions under the following categories:

  1. Oral Presentations (Free Papers): Individual research papers presented in dedicated sessions.
  2. Poster Presentations: Traditional, physical posters displayed in designated areas at the venue.
  3. E-Poster Presentations: Digital posters displayed on electronic screens at the venue.
  4. Symposia Proposals: Group presentations of a focused theme, with 3–4 speakers and a chairperson.
  5. Dr. Saadgi Jagawat Award (Special Category for Psychiatry): Recognising exceptional and innovative research in psychiatry.
  6. Best Thesis Award for Resident Doctors: Open to MD/DNB psychiatry residents who have completed their thesis within the last two years.

If submitting for either award, clearly indicate this at the time of submission.

Who Can Submit?

We welcome submissions from all registered delegates of ADDICON 2025.

  1. Each presenting author may submit up to two abstracts.
  2. Work should ideally be original and unpublished. If previously presented or published, this must be disclosed at submission.

How Should Your Abstract Be Structured?

Abstracts must be concise, clear, and adhere to the following:

  1. Language: English
  2. Word limit: Maximum 300 words (excluding title, author names, and affiliations)

Structure for empirical studies:

  1. Title: Brief and descriptive
  2. Authors & Affiliations: Full names, institutional affiliations, email of presenting author
  3. Background/Objectives: Rationale and aim of the study
  4. Methods: Study design, sample, tools, and procedures
  5. Results: Key findings
  6. Conclusion: Main takeaways and implications
  7. Keywords: Up to 5

For conceptual papers, reviews, or symposia proposals, headings may be adapted appropriately.

We do not accept submissions by post. If you need to make revisions after submission, email the committee before the submission deadline.

How Are Abstracts Reviewed?

All submissions will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee based on:

  1. Relevance to the conference theme
  2. Originality and contribution to the field
  3. Methodological rigor and clarity
  4. Adherence to submission guidelines

The committee may suggest reassigning an oral presentation to a poster or e-poster if appropriate.

If Your Abstract Is Accepted

Authors will be notified via email by 15 September 2025. Accepted presenters must register for the conference by the same date.

Detailed instructions for preparing your oral presentation, poster, or e-poster will be shared after acceptance.

Presentation Guidelines

Oral Presentations

  1. Duration: 8 minutes presentation + 2 minutes discussion.
  2. Slides: Prepare a clear, concise Microsoft PowerPoint (.pptx) presentation, widescreen (16:9).
  3. Recommended: No more than 10–12 slides, with minimal text and high-contrast visuals.
  4. Submit your final presentation at the helpdesk at least two hours before your session.

Poster Presentations

  1. Size: 36 inches (width) x 48 inches (height), printed and brought to the venue.
  2. Content: Should include title, authors & affiliations, background, methods, results, conclusion, and acknowledgements.
  3. Authors must stand by their poster during the scheduled session.

E-Poster Presentations

  1. Format: PDF, landscape (16:9), maximum 10 MB.
  2. Structure similar to physical posters.
  3. Authors must be present near the e-poster screens during their scheduled session.

Symposia

  1. Chairperson and 3–4 speakers presenting on a coherent theme.
  2. Each speaker must submit a PowerPoint presentation in advance.
  3. Total duration of the symposium will be informed upon acceptance.

Ethical Considerations

If your study involved human participants, ensure you have appropriate ethics approval and consent. Plagiarism, fabrication, or misrepresentation will result in rejection.

Certificates

Certificates of presentation will be issued only to authors who present in person during their scheduled session.
